Triple Power Success by San Clemente Surfers

In my haste to get the San Clemente Journal spring release, I cut short three exceptional surfing performances by local San Clemente surfers. Not only did apt Patrick Gudauskas win a pressured first place in the World Qualifying ‘O’Neill Sebastian-Inlet contest off Florida, his victory over 192 contenders including splendid free surfing stylist Mike Losness, who placed a challenging second.

As we move on towards spring, it is interesting to note the excellent showing of Water Polo in late 2007. As indicated earlier, Dana Hills High School won the South Coast league title, with the San Clemente Tritons showing a strong third place.

After observing various surfing contests this fall and passing summer, I find it remarkable the surfing talent now prevailing among our local gremmies and groms. Many have the desire of becoming names added to the list of skilled surfers San Clemente continues to send forth like Nate Yeomans and Mike Losness, who were invited to spend a month long photo shoot off romantic Bali.

Beginning my thoughts I mention once again, Joyce Hoffman, San Clemente pioneer woman surfer who brought national honors to herself as well as San Clemente High School. Ahead of her time, she traveled both the California and International Circuit as a champion for women’s surfing.
