Rising at Vista Hermosa Sports Park, a new attraction is poised to bring a fresh twist to family recreation in San Clemente. Salty Turf, a locally driven miniature golf project, is nearing completion and is expected to open its doors this spring, adding a vibrant, community-centered destination to the city’s growing lineup of amenities.

Set within Vista Hermosa Sports Park, Salty Turf has been thoughtfully designed as more than just a traditional putt-putt course. The project features two distinct 18-hole courses – 36 holes in total – each offering a unique playing experience. One course is envisioned as a “pro-style” layout, appealing to more serious golfers seeking a challenge, while the second “adventure-style” course embraces a playful, immersive design inspired by the landmarks and culture that define San Clemente.
Visitors can expect to see familiar local icons reimagined in miniature form, from the historic San Clemente Pier to nods to the famed Trestles surf area. The coastal theme is woven throughout the experience, blending surf culture with elements of Spanish Colonial design, creating a setting that feels distinctly tied to the city’s identity.
At the heart of the facility will be a nearly 2,000-square-foot clubhouse, complete with a pro shop, kitchen, and both covered and outdoor seating areas. The space is intended to serve as a social hub where families, friends, and visitors can gather before or after their rounds. Plans also include outdoor dining areas and flexible spaces for events, reinforcing Salty Turf’s role as a venue for more than just golf.

The project is the vision of a team of local residents, including Jeff Moore, Marcus Vanneman, and Andrew Streett, who set out to create a place that reflects the spirit of San Clemente while offering something new for the community. Their goal has been to build an experience that appeals to all ages – whether it’s families looking for a weekend outing, kids celebrating birthday parties, or groups gathering for tournaments and themed nights.
City approvals for the project were secured over the past two years, and construction has steadily moved forward. With a target opening in spring 2026, Salty Turf arrives at a time when demand for outdoor, family-friendly entertainment continues to grow across South Orange County.

Beyond its recreational appeal, the project represents a broader trend of locally inspired development – spaces that blend entertainment with a sense of place. By incorporating recognizable landmarks and community influences into its design, Salty Turf aims to offer an experience that feels both new and familiar.
As opening day approaches, anticipation is building for what could become one of San Clemente’s most distinctive new gathering spots. For a city long defined by its beaches, waves, and close-knit community, Salty Turf looks ready to add one more reason for residents and visitors alike to come out and play.
