CITY SET TO HOST INAUGURAL FAMILY-FOCUSED FOURTH OF JULY EVENT, “STARS, STRIPES & SLIP ‘N SLIDES”

Event will supplant the unsanctioned activity known as “Office Chair Races”

Get ready for a blast as the City of San Clemente Beaches, Parks & Recreation Department gears up to launch its debut family-friendly Fourth of July extravaganza called "Stars, Stripes & Slip 'N Slides"! This inaugural event will be held in downtown San Clemente at the intersection of Avenida Rosa and Avenida Victoria. Event activities will include a one-of-a-kind 300-foot patriotic slip ‘n slide (ages 8+ years); a kickin’ kids zone hosted by Fun on the Run Mobile Recreation featuring an all-American 75-foot obstacle challenge course and water slide; patriotic-themed competitions; live entertainment stage; with food available for purchase. Follow the City of San Clemente to get updates and event details!

Due to rising public safety concerns, the unpermitted activity known as “Office Chair Races” will be prohibited, and a new tradition that encourages families to enjoy downtown San Clemente safely, will take its place. Members of the public are reminded that it is illegal to close a public street without a permit, under S.C.M.C. §12.34.020.  Any violation of this, or interference with the City’s permitted event activity (S.C.M.C. §12.34.160) will be enforced.

Additional information related to this event can be found by contacting the Recreation Division at (949) 361-8264 or www.san-clemente.org/events
