Beachcomber Inn at Sunset

With the global pandemic, intermittent quarantines/shut downs, and a legitimate fear of travel these days it can be difficult to get in a much-needed vacation. While you may typically associate holidays with getting out of Dodge, consider staying within the city limits for your next work hiatus. San Clemente is, after all, paradise. Here, we’ve rounded up some of the best staycations in town, with something for everyone.

Beachcomber Inn - Best for Ocean Views
Founded in 1948, the Beachcomber Inn is a Spanish Colonial Revival style inn located next to the pier, offering some of the best views in town. Despite the hotel’s convenient, central location, it is also fairly secluded and allows for a private and relaxing experience. Rooms are tastefully furnished and include a king size bed, sofa bed, bathroom, full kitchen, and a private porch with panoramic views. Facilities include easy beach access, free parking, Wi-Fi, BBQ grills, garden and outdoor furniture, and fire pits.

Nomad’s - Best for Surfers
Founded in 2015, Nomads is a boutique style hotel that is centered on surfing. The hotel offers seven individually-themed rooms, each decked out in décor reminiscent of famous surf spots around the world. The hotel offers unique surf stay packages at an affordable rate that include a welcome drink, three meals daily, guided surf sessions daily, a lesson with a certified instructor, and wetsuit/board rentals. For those not interested in surfing or individuals who prefer to do their own thing, simply booking a room without the package is an option as well - with a Welcome drink included. Located on Avenida Serra, the hotel’s convenient location offers easy access to downtown shops, restaurants, and the pier. Located just up the stairs from the hotel is Nomad’s Canteen, which has a full bar and a delicious collection of “surfer soul food” on offer. A discount is offered to all San Clemente residents, so call the hotel directly for the
best rates.

San Clemente Inn - Best All Around
As a San Clemente family tradition since 1955, the San Clemente Inn has offered generations of quality staycations to both local and traveling families. In an effort to fit all different family’s needs, the Inn has three different styles of rooms that they offer: the Crest, Studio, and Breaker. The Crest room features a queen size bed in the bedroom, two twin Murphy beds in the living room, a queen size sofa sleeper, a ¼ and ¾ bathroom, and basic kitchen amenities. The Breaker is a one-bedroom suite that features a bedroom with a queen Murphy bed, two twin Murphy beds in the living room, a ¾ bath, and a galley kitchenette. Lastly, the  Studio is a perfect accommodation for a couple offering a suite with one room and includes a queen bed, a ¾ bath, and a galley kitchenette. All of this coupled with the Inn’s history and on-site amenities such as their restaurant, pool, tennis court, sports court, and 9-hole mini golf make the San Clemente Inn stand apart from other local competition.

Always Inn - Best Bed & Breakfast
Located in the heart of our historic downtown village, just three blocks from the pier, the Always Inn is a Tuscany-style bed and breakfast that offers the amenities of a four-star hotel without the extra charges. The intimate inn is all about pampering and warm hospitality including a full five-course breakfast, fresh fruit, cookies, chocolates and snacks. Rooms feature queen size beds, custom furnishings, private baths with whirlpool spa tubs, robes, beach chairs/towels, toiletries and more. Meals can be enjoyed on the deck, courtyard, or outside patio, each with beautiful view of gardens designed to attract hummingbirds and monarch butterflies, and an oasis of palm trees, orchids, roses, gardenias, succulents, and herbs.
