San Clemente Calls for Volunteers to Help Reduce Brush Fire Risks
Jan 15, 2025 06:28PM ● By City of San Clemente
The City of San Clemente is seeking volunteers for an Emergency Fuel Reduction Project in the area of East Avenida Pico scheduled on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Two years of above average rainfall and a series of Santa Ana wind events have increased the potential for wildland fire in the vicinity of San Clemente. Some specific areas have been identified for fire fuel reduction to promote fire safety. On January 14, 2025, the City Council directed staff to distribute a call for volunteers and to organize an emergency fuel reduction project in one of the identified locations. The project will be a City-led, but volunteer, effort that will provide residents an opportunity to be proactive in addressing fire concerns in their community. This work is meaningful and could save lives and property in San Clemente.
