Chelsea
by Laurie Patton
Come up from the sea
and sing to me
of wave and foam
Come and take my hand
veined, workworn
telling beads
of lifelong dreams
unfulfilled
Chelsea comes down
from the city
smooths the quilt
upon my bed
uncomprehending
Come up from the sea
and sing to me
of wind and spray
For Chelsea tells me
only that the sea
is soundless now
upon the shore
unmourned.
