Grey Water (Level II)

Backyard Skills

Recycle good water and use yours better! Learn how to design, install, and maintain a grey water system that’s right for your home. Gardens love grey water! What’s grey water you say? It’s any water leftover from everyday, household chores like laundry, shower, kitchen and bathroom sinks. While it’s not water we’ll want to drink, our gardens most certainly do! This workshop will explore grey water concepts to use water better, and how to incorporate systems into your home and garden that use grey water. Understand types, applications and maintenance. Take home the tools and materials needed, and instructions to get you started. Don’t let good water go to waste another day. Installing a grey water system will help conserve and reuse good water everyday, without having to think about it. Listen to this! The average four person household sends well over 38,000 gallons of reusable water down the drain each year from bathrooms and laundries (greywater-systems.com). With a grey water system, you can divert this gluttonous amount of water into the garden instead of down the drain - protecting our watershed, reducing water consumption, lowering your monthly bill, and relieving some stress on our water treatment plant. Learn how to be a part of the solution with a simple grey water system.
