Abstract Painting

Explore the World of Abstract Painting

Students of all ages and skill levels will be encouraged to step "out of the box" and paint from their imagination and emotions. Learn the basic elements of design, options available in mediums, methods of application, colors, blending, and more. Techniques will vary from beginner to advanced based on each student's painting experience. Visual and text references will be available to guide students as they begin their abstract journeys. Varied mediums, specialty tools, assorted brushes, and special paint colors will be provided for students to use during class. *Material list provided upon registration. About the Instructor: Born in New York and raised in LA, Elaine Cohen is a mostly self-taught artist working in the mediums of sculpture and abstract painting. She was featured in "Emerging Artists" on PBS White House Chronicles on three separate episodes, and she had her work accepted into the Smithsonian National Portrait Competition for the opening of the new Portrait Gallery. She has been showing her work locally at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts for the last two years and the Laguna Art-A-Fair exhibition for the past eight years.
