A Paper & Textile Workshop

Join us for the exciting new workshop with local textile and mixed media artist. Gretchen Shannon! This workshop will explore techniques in handmade paper, rust and eco dyeing, shibori dyeing and bleach discharge. Learn how to make your own paper from scratch and how to create beautiful handmade books using sewing, pasting, stamping, and binding techniques. About the Artist: "Creating art for over 40 years, I began as a watercolor illustrator and was part of the Brandywine tradition. The primary focus of my work is to raise awareness and inspire preservation of the natural world and champion the beauty of our world cultures. I am a multidisciplinary artist. Devoting ten years of my career as a textile designer for the quilt market, I integrate a lot of pattern into my work. I believe art is a language and should engage with the community. As an artist who teaches, my goal is to facilitate expression, ranging from simple joy to the deep and complex issues of human experience." - Gretchen Shannon
