Human Options Fall Luncheon—Igniting Social Change: No Visible Bruises
We invite you to join us on Thursday, October 14 at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum from 11:30am-1:30pm, for our live Fall Luncheon Event: Igniting Social Change: No Visible Bruises, featuring Rachel Louise Snyder, journalist, author, domestic violence advocate. This topic is particularly timely, as we have seen the increase in family violence and abuse during COVID-19.
Rachel Louise Snyder’s book, No Visible Bruises: What We Don’t Know About Domestic Violence Can Kill Us, was named one of the 10 best books of 2019 by The New York Times. It reveals that one of America’s most urgent social problems takes place behind closed doors, and that the most dangerous place for a woman, statistically, is her own home. Snyder gives a sobering look on the far-reaching social consequences of intimate violence on individuals, families, and our society and its intersections between poverty, homelessness, and addiction, underscoring the fact that none of these patterns emerges in a vacuum.
We invite you to join us in this important conversation and help us raise funds to provide our life-changing programs, such as our 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, walk-in centers, and community education program – ensuring children and adults escaping abuse are empowered to build lives free from fear.
